Highlights

Inter are a funny team. They obviously have a lot of talent, their midfield is strong and in Dominic Chatto they have one of the better veikkausliiga midfield enforcers, but they seem to blow very hot and cold. I suppose that’s a consequence of their being such a young team, which again will mean that more of them follow Tomi Petrescu’s route to a bigger club and fatter wage packet.

I’ve heard good things about Mika Ojala, but he wasn’t that impressive at Ratina. He has time on his side and will no doubt get his chance sometime.

Watch out for the fantastically incompetent celebration by Teemu Turunen after the second goal.

HJK’s awful run continues. How long can Keith Armstrong hang on as coach? There are rumours that they are going to throw money at the problem, but that seems a bit of a silly thing to do. Their problems run deeper than that and they have just bought a lot of new players-trying to integrate a new load runs the risk of making them the Finnish Newcastle United.

Another big game tonight, as Tampere United could open up a 9 point gap on the chasing pack, having only played 12 games. Wouldn’t take anything for granted though. Mariehamn may be bottom, but they have drawn four out of five games away from home and have been difficult to break down. They seem to have imploded a bit in recent weeks though, and this might not be the ideal time to play a confident Tampere side.

The game is on Urheilukanava at 7pm.

  1. It seems like Armstrong won’t be sacked (whatever he does) as his contract runs out after this season.

Wouldn’t be surprised if HJK opted to sign Muurinen as his replacement. Incidentally, Mursu’s contract is also running out

  2. Ah, that would make sense. I’ve been impressed with what little I’ve seen of Lahti this season.
