Making it more interesting

So, TamU got spanked yesterday. A 4-1 defeat, only four subs, Wiss pulling out injured at the last minute…. What’s going on? I can only say that the selection looked strange to me. Apparently Sakari Saarinen played in defence, with Juska Savolainen playing the anchor role in midfield. It was a mess, by all accounts.

Highlights here

TPS couldn’t take advantage, losing 4-2 away to KTP. We’ll see if Haka can handle the pressure in tonight’s game against HJK.

Ykkonen is getting tight at the top:

JJK 10 6 3 1 20 – 7 21
PK-35 10 6 2 2 19 – 9 20
KuPS 9 5 4 0 19 – 5 19
RoPS 10 5 3 2 17 – 13 18
TPV 10 5 3 2 16 – 12 18
TP-47 10 4 3 3 16 – 12 15
Atlantis 9 4 2 3 9 – 9 14

PP-70 10 3 3 4 11 – 17 12
KPV 10 2 5 3 9 – 16 11
FC Hämeenlinna 10 2 2 6 9 – 14 8
GBK 10 2 1 7 10 – 19 7
JIPPO 10 1 3 6 9 – 19 6
Klubi-04 10 1 2 7 9 – 16 5
8.7.2007 GBK – KuPS 1 – 1
8.7.2007 PK-35 – KPV 2 – 0
8.7.2007 JIPPO – RoPS 2 – 3
8.7.2007 JJK – PP-70 5 – 1
7.7.2007 Atlantis – VIFK 1 – 2
7.7.2007 TP-47 – Klubi-04 0 – 1

Hopefully JJK can last the pace, I don’t think Jyväskylä has had a top flight team before. With the top five seperated by only 3 points, it looks like it’ll be an exciting season.

  1. In Jyväskylä, Babatunde Wusu scored four goals within 25 minutes.

He came from Lagos to Finland about five years ago, arriving first in Konnevesi – my dad’s birthplace, a village of 3000 inhabitants and pretty far away from basically everything – where he was placed as a voluntary worker of some exchange program, and before that he had never played football seriously. Men of Konnevesi invited him to play with a local team, just for fun, and a while later he was spotted by a coach of neighbouring Laukaa.

Then a season with TPS and two with MP, Mikkeli, and then back to Central Finland. Next season again in Veikkausliiga, this time with JJK?
