Veikkausliiga Round five preview and injury update

MyPa v TPS

This one is tricky to call. MyPa have been staggeringly inconsistent, losing at home to IFK before tenaciously getting a point away at RoPS. Simo Valakari, Mika Ääritalo and Chris Cleaver are all out injured, leaving a big hole in the TPS midfield. Kheireddine Zarabi (or ‘Kiko’) got a red card against Honka, and will sit out the game. That’s a big blow for TPS, he’s been a quality player. Kuami Agboh and Juho Nykänen are missing for MyPa, other than that they have a full squad to choose from.

This game is on Urheilukanava at 7pm.

TamU vs Lahti

TamU are missing Lindström, Ojanperä and Scheweleff. The midfield will be bolstered by Savolainen’s availability, though. Lahti look more settled and will want to bounce back from their loss to Inter, their missing players are Shala, Kainu and Pitkälä.

Inter vs HJK

Inter have a Timo Furuholm sized hole to gill up front. Corpache might make it back, but that won’t help them to put the ball in the net, which can be a problem for such a possession-based team. HJK have a full squad to pick from but might have a similar problem to Inter after failing to score against KuPS last time out.

KuPS vs KTP

KuPS look nailed on to win this one. KTP’s defence is awful, and KuPS got a great result in Helsinki against HJK. The only injury for KuPS is Hartikainen, KTP will be without temperamental striker Ikävalko.

Jaro vs RoPS

Jaro are missing Junnila and Jens Portin, but they don’t look too clever. Good tip to go down, if they can’t beat IFK, but surely they can’t lose two home games in a row? RoPS will be without Edeipo for the shortish trip south (short relative to their usual away game journey time).

IFK Mariehamn vs VPS

IFK have a long list of injuries, but more worryingly the Swedish Princess Victoria is making an official visit timed to coincide with kick-off at the Wiklof Holding Arena. What kind of future head of state messes with the match day traffic like that? Aristocrats have gone to the guillotine for less. If this does not rouse Ålanders to a republican frenzy, then frankly they don’t deserve a Veikkausliiga team. Sjölund, Norrmén, Rikama, Isaksson and Binnion are out for IFK, VPS have a full squad.

Honka vs Haka

Koskinen is out for Honka, and Okkonen for Haka. Pretty sure Honka will win this one.

Now we have to win with a two-goal difference to move forward. I believe we will win. It is time SP gives other brazilians a chance in the cup. 🙂

  5. Dimitris: What happened to Aiolikos this season? I saw them in their game against Apollon Smirnis last year, it was a great atmosphere and decent match. Looked a bit ‘suspicious’, though…..

Leo: Never mind about Flu, heh? Always next year. And thanks for the assistance! Rafael must have been inspired by your presence.

Rukahs: No problem. I started betting a bit this season, so thought I may as well start sharing the info. Be sure to tell others to come and look at the site…
