Veikkausliiga Round 13 Preview (Part One)

MyPa v TamU

TamU played extraordinarily well against Buducnost, at least until they went 2-0 up. You would expect them to rest a few players today though, before what could be a hectic trip to Montenegro for the second leg, so maybe Hjelm or Hynynen will get a start. MyPa are also playing quite well after drawing with Inter on Monday, so it could be a good game. Last year TamU’s depleted side got hammered in Anjalankoski, but their form and confidence could do with a win today.

FC Haka v KTP

A very easy game for Haka, possibly a chance for them to boost their goal difference. Innanen and Popovitch might return, Strandvall will not. KTP will be without Ikävalko, Okafor, Vartiainen and Lähde. Haka have two home games in a row, then the Cork City second leg, followed by a trip to lowly KuPS, before their home game against Inter on the 10th of August. They could be absolutely flying by that point. What price a Haka championship?

FC Lahti v HJK

The ‘real classico’, as fans of both teams like to say. It’s a shame that this will be Juho Mäkelä’s last game for HJK before returning to Hearts, but they do at least have Paulus Roiha coming back from injury. Jarno Parikka and  Tamasz  Sajdak are also tidy players, and Dawda Bah can play upfront.  If they don’t win the title this year, they will have failed. Lahti have a full squad to choose from and a chance to go top  if they win and  MyPa and Inter don’t.

I’ll do the rest of the games tomorrow morning.
